Guide to painting a warehouse floor with epoxy coating

Paint a warehouse floor needs more than ordinary wall paint. Warehouse floors need a coating that can handle walking routes, pallets, storage zones and rolling loads after the concrete has been prepared correctly. This guide focuses on concrete preparation, Mipa EP 150-70 sealant primer, EP 275-70 floorcoat and WEP 2300-50 floorcoat for a durable indoor mineral floor coating.

What do you need to paint a warehouse floor?

Concrete inspection and cleaning

Start with a dry, solid mineral surface. Remove loose material, oil, grease, rubber marks and weak old coatings before primer or floorcoat is mixed.

EP 150-70 sealant primer

Mipa EP 150-70 2K-EP Sealant primer is a colourless epoxy primer and sealer for mineral substrates, fissures and defective concrete areas.

EP 275-70 floorcoat

Mipa EP 275-70 is a solvent free 2K epoxy floorcoat for mineral substrates where a glossy self levelling floor finish is wanted.

WEP 2300-50 floorcoat

Mipa WEP 2300-50 is a water based 2K epoxy floorcoat for indoor mineral floors that need abrasion and chemical resistance with a semi-gloss finish.

WEP hardener and water

Mipa WEP 9300-25 hardener and Mipa WBS deionised water belong with WEP 2300-50 so the water based epoxy floor system can be mixed correctly.

How to paint a warehouse floor

  1. 1
    Check the concrete first

Inspect traffic lanes, turning areas, cracks, old coating, rubber marks, dust and moisture. Warehouse floors should be mechanically sound before coating reaches the concrete.

  2. 2
    Remove contamination and weak layers

Clean oil, grease, rubber marks, dust and friable concrete. Smooth shiny concrete needs a mechanical profile so epoxy can grip the surface.

  3. 3
    Seal absorbent or repaired areas

Use Mipa EP 150-70 where the mineral substrate needs sealing, priming, fissure filling or stronger preparation before the finishing coat.

  4. 4
    Mix the selected floorcoat correctly

Prepare only workable quantities of the 2K floor material and keep the mixing ratio, pot life and temperature limits from the relevant technical sheet.

  5. 5
Apply evenly and protect the cure

Roll, brush, trowel or spread the floorcoat as specified, then protect the floor from traffic until the coating reaches the required strength.

Which warehouse floor coating should you choose?

Choose EP 275-70 for a self levelling glossy finish

EP 275-70 suits mineral floors in workshops, warehouses and industrial rooms where a solvent free epoxy finish and high build look are preferred.

Choose WEP 2300-50 for a water based semi-gloss finish

WEP 2300-50 suits indoor garage and warehouse floors where chemical and abrasion resistance are needed with the matching WEP hardener.

Technical details

  • Mipa EP 275-70 is described by Mipa as a solvent free 2K epoxy resin finishing coat for glossy self levelling coatings on mineral substrates.
  • Mipa WEP 2300-50 is described by Mipa as a chemical and abrasion resistant 2K coating for metallic and mineral substrates in interior use.
  • WEP 2300-50 uses Mipa WEP 9300-25 WBS 2K EP Hardener and Mipa WBS VE-Wasser according to the technical sheet.
  • EP 150-70 is a transparent 2K epoxy resin for priming and sealing mineral substrates, including fissures and defective areas.
  • Epoxy floor systems need a dry, clean and mechanically sound substrate because moisture, dust, laitance, oil and weak old coatings can prevent adhesion.
Practical suggestion

Map traffic routes before coating starts. High-load turning zones and doorways deserve extra attention during preparation because these areas usually fail first.
