Mipa silicone remover in liquid or spray format removes grease, wax and silicone before sanding or coating exterior wood and sound old paint.
Guided exterior wood coating
A wooden fence, gate or railing needs cleaning, light abrasion and a coating that can handle outdoor exposure without looking too glossy. This guide uses a water based alkyd finish for exterior wood where brushability, flow and practical weather resistance are important. Large boards and rails also need practical planning so each section can be finished before weather changes.
Mipa silicone remover in liquid or spray format removes grease, wax and silicone before sanding or coating exterior wood and sound old paint.
MP Sanding Sponge helps dull glossy old paint, smooth small edges and prepare profiles that are awkward to sand with a flat sheet.
Mipa WBS deionised water is used only for approved adjustment of the WBS alkyd coating during application.
Mipa WAK 2500-30 is a waterborne silk matt alkyd coating for interior and exterior use on wooden construction elements.
Remove dirt, green growth, loose old paint and weathered fibres before coating begins.
Use the sanding sponge to create an even matt surface, especially on edges, joints and old paint transitions.
Use silicone remover where contamination is likely, then allow the surface to flash off before applying paint.
Brush or roll the WAK finish in controlled coats and spread the paint along the boards, rails or profiles.
Keep fresh coating away from rain, condensation and direct overnight moisture until the finish has dried sufficiently.
Choose WAK 2500-30 when a silk matt exterior wood coating with good brushability is the right finish.
Use the sanding sponge before coating so rails, corners and decorative profiles are keyed instead of only cleaned.
Keep existing coating only where it is sound, dry and firmly attached to the wood.
Paint the rear, underside and end grain areas first where access is harder. Exposed edges often fail first when they are left thin.
