Products for coating a service van load area

A service van load area sees tool boxes, ladders, sliding cargo and dirt, so the coating needs strong cleaning, scuffing, priming and textured protection.

What do you need to coat a service van load area?

Surface keying by hand

MP sanding sponge helps scuff corners, ribs and shaped areas so primer or textured coating can grip evenly.

Cleaning and degreasing

Mipa silicone remover in liquid or spray format removes grease, wax and silicone before sanding, priming or coating.

Epoxy primer surfacer

Mipa EP Primer Surfacer builds a fast wet-on-wet epoxy primer layer with active corrosion protection and direct adhesion on steel, aluminium and zinc.

2K epoxy primer filler spray

Mipa 2K-EP Primer Filler Spray is useful for smaller repairs and edges where a spray format is easier than mixing liquid primer.

Textured load area coating

Mipa Protector black or tintable creates a tough 2K textured protective layer for transport surfaces, storage areas, load beds and heavy duty utility metal.

Protector spray for smaller areas

Mipa Protector 2K Spray gives the same heavy duty textured idea in a black aerosol format for edges, small boxes and local repair zones.

Grip additive for foot traffic

Mipa Grip Additive can be mixed into suitable protective coatings where extra traction is useful on steps, ramps or standing areas.

How to coat a service van load area

  1. 1
Empty and inspect the load area

Remove loose fittings, sweep out debris and mark worn edges, screw holes, wheel boxes and exposed metal.

  2. 2
    Clean and scuff thoroughly

Degrease the surface, then scuff floors, sides and ribs until the coating has a reliable mechanical key.

  3. 3
    Prime exposed metal

Use EP Primer Surfacer or the 2K epoxy primer filler spray on bare metal, repairs and rubbed-through areas.

  4. 4
    Apply the protective layer

Apply Mipa Protector black or tintable Protector across the load area, using Protector 2K Spray for smaller sections and edges.

  5. 5
    Let high wear zones cure

Wait before loading sharp tools, compressors or storage racks back into the van so the coating is not damaged too early.

Which service van load area products should you choose?

Full load area coating

Choose liquid Protector when the floor and side zones need a continuous textured protective layer.

Local repair and edge work

Choose Protector 2K Spray and epoxy primer filler spray for smaller repairs, wheel box edges and boxed corners.

Technical details

  • Textured protection is useful on service van floors and storage areas that see sliding cargo and repeated loading.
  • EP Primer Surfacer adds corrosion protection and adhesion on prepared metal before the textured layer.
  • Silicone remover should be used before sanding and again before coating after dust removal.
  • Grip Additive belongs only where extra slip resistance is desired and compatible with the chosen protective coating.
Practical suggestion

Plan the coating in zones so you can keep an exit path and avoid stepping onto fresh material. A van floor is easier to coat cleanly when the order is planned first.
