Cleaning and degreasing

How to coat trailer floors and load beds

    Clean the load area

    Remove loose dirt, oil and cargo residue, then wipe the paintable area with silicone remover.

    Sand the surface

    Key stable coating, ribs and corners with the sanding sponge so the surface is dull and clean.

    Prepare edges and fixings

    Mask drain points, tie-down hardware, threads and hinges before coating starts.

    Apply Protector

    Apply liquid Mipa Protector for larger floor areas or Protector 2K Spray for suitable smaller sections.

    Allow the coating to harden before loading cargo, dragging equipment or walking heavily on the surface.

Which load bed coating method should you choose?

Liquid Protector for broad floors

Use the liquid Protector method for larger trailer floors, load beds and repeated high wear surfaces.

Protector spray for local areas

Use Protector 2K Spray for smaller repair zones, edges and shaped areas where a compact aerosol method is easier.

Tintable or black finish

Use black where a black textured surface is desired, or tintable Protector where the finish needs the correct compatible colour direction.

  • Mipa Protector is a textured 2K protective coating for truck beds, trailers and heavy duty exposed surfaces.
  • Mipa 2K Hardener H10 short is used with the liquid Protector stage.
  • The coating area should be clean, dry, dull and free from grease before Protector is applied.
  • Tie-down points, drain holes, hinges and threaded fittings should remain usable after coating.
Practical suggestion

Check raised ribs and corners twice before coating. These are the areas that usually hold dirt and old cargo residue, and they are also the first places to lose coating if preparation is rushed.
